How dangerous is your life?

Statistics are great!

We often perceive danger in a way that has very little to do with reality (as statistics informs us). How dangerous is your life really? How often do you fear dying from drinking a can of coke? How dangerous is playing soccer and should you fear being murdered?

We also often think that others put us in danger, more than we do ourselves. But there are a lot of things we do voluntary that shorten our life – some more than others.

So how long will you live? Find out at this life expectancy calculator

Ikonic Edge Super Slim Card iPhone pouch review

UPDATE: I have now used this product for a few months and would like to add one observation. The phone fits snugly in the pouch, this is a good thing, but some times it can be a bit hard trying get the phone out with one hand. So answering a call while riding a bike is close to impossible (and definitely dangerous). I am however very happy with the pouch, and can still recommend it for anyone who wants a good looking high quality leather pouch for their iPhone.

After getting my iPhone 3GS, I started looking for a case or pouch for it. The iPhone has a quality feel to it, so I did not want to encase it in silicone, which in my opinion feels cheap. Many of the cases and pouches on the marked are quite bulky, and since the iPhone never leaves my hand or pocket, I wanted to keep it slim.

Since I always carry it with me it could double as a mini wallet, with credit cards, ID and some cash.

After a bit of research I decided to go with a leather pouch. I found the Super-Slim Card iPhone pouch from Ikonic Edge in New Zealand.

I payed in total 55 USD, that included shipping. After a few days, I recieved this letter in the mail.

The pouch is designed specifically for the iPhone, so it only fits one way. The screen should face the credit cards. They then double as a screen protector. Very clever. The inside of the pouch is lined with suede leather, this wipes your screen every time you insert the phone. It works very well.

At the bottom of the pouch, there are these small holes for the microphone and speaker (yes, there is only one speaker on the iPhone 3GS, the other opening is a microphone) The holes lets the sound out, so you can hear your ringtone or music.

The pouch holds about three credit cards. If you force more in, I guess the leather will give, but then you will always have to fill it with more cards. Again to keep it slim and nice, I limit my self to three cards, and some cash.

I have been using the pouch for about a week now, and I am very happy with it. It looks good, and it feels like a quality product. The stitching is very nice, and in contrast to other leather pouches I have seen, the sides are not sticking out.

Geotagged by iPhone

The iPhone geotaggs pictures. You can read more about geotagging here.

This information is stored in the EXIF data, included in the JPEG file. This means that anyone with access to the image file, can see where the image was taken. Privacy issues ensues.

By searching google images for "iphone self portrait", I quickly found the images below. Then using either the Exif viewer add-on for Firefox, or, if you have a mac - the Preview application, you can find a direct link to the location where the picture was taken.

Usally there would be no problem, but I am not sure everyone are aware of how much information they are actually sharing by uploading geotagged images to the web. Luckily there are ways to strip the image file of the EXIF data. I will tell you about this later, but first, a few images:

This picture was uploaded to the web with all EXIF information intact.

Twitter is another place where people often upload geotagged pictures.

So, obviously there are some issues with privacy here. It might be a good idea to remove the EXIF.

El Pocho

Lalo Gonzalez Piporro, Lucha Villa and Julio Aldama in "El Pocho" (a color)

I would have loved to see this one!

El Pocho was made in 1970 by director Eulalio Gonzalez Ramirez - known as "El Pirorro"

I have no idea what the film is about, but the cover alone hints of a great story! Bad-ass hero with a great sense of style, overcomes his handicap (tiny feet) and succeeds in NYC with the help of his Israeli-made weapon.

How to get Spotify invites, and sign up from anywhere in the world

UPDATE:  Spotify has launched a new service that is open to all. It is however restricted to 20 hours pr month (and there are ads). Go here to read more about it, and sign up. To avoid the 20 hour restriction, you still need an invite, so read on :)

I guess you know what Spotify is, since you are reading this, so I´ll just get down to business.

First you need an invite:
I have NO MORE invites to give, but I know those who have posted their e-mails have received invites. If everyone who gets an invite via this page, could please give at least one invite to the next person posting their e-mail, everyone is happy :)

So, to get an invite, post your e-mail address in the comments and hope for the best. To register from a country where Spotify is not yet available, read below.

Alternative 1:

Here is how you do it:
  1. Go to this page.
  2. Enter https://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/ inte the address field on the page you just entered and press “Go”. If any of those two don´t work for registering, Spotify has blocked them.
  3. Now you should see the registration page for Spotify.
  4. Fill out your details and use the postcode IP123BS (or any valid UK postcode).
  5. Accept the user agreement and create the account.
  6. Now you have an account, but your not done yet. Now open a new browser windows and go to Spotify.com. Go to “Edit Profile” which is found in the bottom menu. Enter your username and password and login.
  7. Now change your country and postcode to your real ones. This part does not work for everyone. You should be fine even without it.
  8. That was it. Now your good to good. Just download the software and you will have access to all the music you want.
This technique can be used over and over again as many times as you like. But don’t forget to change to your real country for all the accounts you create. This is very important because Spotify only alowes you to use your Spotify account abroad for 14 days. Any account exceeding 14 days abroad will be suspended. You can however re-activate it by logging in to your account in your home country again (or having a friend do it for you). Then you will have another 14 days

Alternative 2:

  1. Go here: http://proxy24.org

  2. Enter this URL: http://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/

  3. Enter this postal code: 69002

Alternative 3:

Got to: http://virtualbypass.com and enter the adress: https://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/

"Remove Scripts" and "Remove Objects" should not be selected. If they are, unselect them and reload the page.

Register using a post code from England. Here is one: SW1A2AB

Later, you can change country and postcode in your account.

Download Spotify.

Enjoy

    Magic Castle

Press play. Stare at the dot in the middle of the video.

What you see is an "afterimage", created due to "neural adaptation".

Nerve cells in your eye, stop responding to a stimulus after a period of time. So when you stare at the color image the neurons in the retina stop responding to the chemical signals triggered by the colors.

When you look at the black and white version, your eyes are receiving white light which contains all wavelengths which triggers the release of chemicals for all colors. But since the neurons in the retina have stopped responding to the previous colors you only "see" the opposite colors, generating the correctly colored version.
